[...] Today I looked in my referrer logs and found a disturbing post about my site from a none-too-flattering weblog that does nothing but rant about designs. This site is called You Suckss. I have nothing to say except, bite my ass. If you feel the same, please drop ‘em a line. [...]

Do you actually expect anyone using the default WordPress template as their site design to take you seriously?

    Just wondering.

  3. Jim A. Says:

    No, you suCkSS!

Hey, when you actually get a design for this site, let us know and we’ll make fun of it for you.

Oh, and learn to speaka ‘d english. When your insults make sense, they hurt more.

  4. Eric Says:

Web Standards with Imagination is a great site with a lot of good articles. I happen to like the design. More than I can say for this lame wordpress default theme, since you obviously can’t design anything you shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

Talking about colors… umm.. your header.. Come on! Black with red-brown color? Everything on your site is fine, but only that header. Give us more contrast for a relief to our exhausted eyes please. This is not only for us but for those color deficit people too. ;)

  6. Klaus Says:

I’m not going to flame Dunstan. His content and site are always great work. Althougth, I did prefer the previous style…sorry Dunstan. This just goes to show that everyone’s view on what constitutes good style is different….Not right or wrong, just different.

It’s interesting to me that this site “yousuckss” obviously is a case of “those that can…do, those that can’t critique”. There is no content of value here, the site owner can’t even seem to post without spelling and grammar errors. For someone who loves to say what is good and bad about others designs why does this site use a bulk standard wordpress theme that lacks any imagination or flair.

A word for the folks behind yousuckss … Yep, you do indeed suck!

  7. Si Says:

Whereas a default Kubrik template with a low contrast header is much more pleasing on the eye and easier to follow…

    Good call!

  8. You Suck Says:

This site sucks! How can you criticize any design when your site is so ugly?!?!? And learn some proper English if you are going to write in English.

  9. SmarterThanYou Says:

“Gray with bright colours can be dangerous to your eyes!”

Do you have any evidence to support that claim? IBM and other companies found the reverse to be true. A dark background with light text was better than the opposite. Their studies indicated that green text was optimum in terms of eye fatigue. Bright white on a dark background was not as good, but both were better than black or dark text on a white background.

I think you will find that it is your site, with it’s “out-of-the-box” crap styling, is the eyesore, not dustin’s. How about you learn about how to a) speak english and b) style and code a site before you start commenting on other people’s sites. While your at it, try learning php or ruby, and code your own site, then someone might take you seriously!

It’s easier to smell a bad egg than to lay a good one.

Rather than tear people down in their personal design choices, a much better site would magnify good design. Look at all the really successful websites that developers frequent — none of them are in the habbit of tearing people down. It’s just not cool. Grow up. If you keep in the pattern of only pointing out bad designs, nobody will ever visit your site because it’s pointless. Just start at MySpace or Geocities and occupy yourself there :-P The point is: there are so many bad sites that pointing out negative elements in design is a waste of time.

And not to make your comments seem like a broken record or anything, but it is very ironic that you’re using the default template that comes with WP instead of designing something yourself (unlike many of the other commentors though, I have little bad to say about the Kubric design).

  12. laughing_at_you Says:

Just the fact that I’m taking a whole minute to write this comment disturbs me, but some times you just gotta ;)

DUDE! WordPress template! You are hardly in the position to judge others on design, get a new hobby or remove the ridiculous little smiley at the bottom of the page at least.

    Cheers

  13. Daison Says:

ahahahahahah….This site is very ugly same… does not advance to complain!

  14. holepunch Says:

hahahaha… these comment so funny. why people make fun you english. I think correct!

  15. Sudar Says:

Hey guys don’t be blaming Dustin. His site has lot of useful information. If you are so worried about the design and color then just subscribe to the site’s RSS feeds and read it in any of your preferred feed reader.

  16. prence Says:

Haha, I agree. Horrible design but at least it’s designed correctly :\

  17. Lance Fisher Says:

Unlike any post on Web Standards with Imagination, this post adds no value to the web or anything else.
